With almost 40 years of experience in the casino gambling industry and a revolutionary in what concerns customer service and player development programs, it is no wonder that Steve Browne, together with Dennis Conrad – Raving Consultant President and Chief Strategist, received this years’ Casino Marketing Lifetime Achievement Award.
Browne started his casino career in Tahoe, after graduating college. He worked his way up from the graveyard shift by taking dealer courses which eventually landed him a craps dealer job in Reno in 1979. He fondly recounts “I decided I liked Tahoe, liked the gambling business and I wanted to hang around it for a little while.”
He continued to deal and worked for all major northern Nevada casinos until deciding to co-own a casino of his own in Carson City, Nevada. During this time he became an important part of the pioneering movement that treated customers as the most important factor in the business, techniques that are employed even today by successful casino around the world.
Having acquired quite the casino knowledge armoury Browne decided to open his own consulting services, thus Raving Consulting was born. The company became a leader in casino marketing and strategy and has developed the immersive customer service technique as well as player development programs which are now used by various US casinos as well as by casino operators all over the world.
And so, at this year’s Casino Marketing & Technology Conference which took place between July 14th and 16th in Las Vegas, Browne was honoured with the Casino Marketing Lifetime Achievement Award.
