Senate to vote on Alabama gambling amendment

The Alabama Senate committee is to vote on a bill that would allow lotteries and casinos to operate in the statewide region.

This coming Tuesday, the Alabama Marketing and Tourism Committee will invoke a public hearing in order to vote on the proposed amendment of bringing casino gambling and a statewide lottery to help raise economic growth.

The bill would permit the state’s Governor to discuss a gaming deal with the Creek Indian’s Poarch Band. Concomitantly, the Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh’s suggested amendments to gambling laws will see the four dog tracks in the state upgraded with casino gaming and the state-lottery.

While revenue for gambling will entail an 18% tax, the lottery money will go straight into a trust fund. The Senator of Alabama says that by passing this bill the state will benefit from a $1.3 billion in economic impact, $400 million in yearly income and create 11.000 jobs for citizens.

Tuesday’s voting will determine whether the bill should pass on to being voted in Senate after which it will be presented to the House of Representatives. Seeing as there is only one month left for the 2015 legislative session, the bill must pass the vote if casino construction and lottery arrangements are to be initiated.

September will signify the period of voting for the state’s citizens to determine whether or not Alabama will introduce a new casino gambling and lottery service.
